Embrace The Winter Season: Family Friendly Programs to Keep Kids Moving This Season

As the Midwest winter settles in, many parents look for creative ways to keep their children active and engaged despite the chilly weather. In South Bend, there’s no shortage of options for both indoor and outdoor fun. Our partners will have events that are sure to help keep kids moving and entertained throughout the season.

South Bend’s Venue Parks and Arts is welcoming the start of ice-skating season with its Winter Open Week, running from Friday, November 29, to Saturday, December 7. This exciting week-long event will offer a range of activities, many of them free, to get families outside and moving. Kids can enjoy discounted ice skating on select days—a perfect opportunity to get them active while experiencing the magic of skating under winter lights.

For those particularly cold days, indoor options can help kids burn off energy in a warm, comfortable setting. The South Bend Kroc Center has an excellent indoor facility with a lot to do. Mark your calendars for December 19, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., for a truly magical holiday experience! This festive, family-friendly event will transform the pool deck into a winter wonderland, featuring giant Christmas inflatables, twinkling holiday décor, and even a 32-foot screen playing classic holiday movies. Kids and adults alike can immerse themselves in the holiday spirit and look forward to a special visit from Santa himself! It’s the perfect way to make lasting memories with family and friends during the most wonderful time of the year.
