September 14th marks the grand opening of Foundry Field, a historic baseball landmark on the southeast side of South Bend. Two years ago, community members envisioned a space rich in history, culture, and art. The people of South Bend came together to turn that vision into reality, and now the time has come to celebrate and put the field to use!
The opening day promises fun for all ages. Children will have several opportunities to play on the field, while spectators can enjoy exciting matchups between South Bend High Schools and Chicago Intrinsic High Schools. A lunch will be provided, followed by a guided tour of the field. The tour will offer insights into the field's history and showcase the dedication the community has invested in bringing this dream to life. Local artists have contributed countless hours to creating stunning murals around the field—visuals that truly enhance the stories you'll hear during the tour.
